Thorganby is both a small village and parish which sits in a valley of the Wolds about 9 miles north-east of Market Rasen and 7 miles south-east of Caistor. Swinhope parish sits to the south-east and and Hatcliffe parish to the north. The parish covers about 1,600 acres.

"THORGANBY, a parish in the S. division of Walshcroft wapentake, parts of Lindsey, county Lincoln, 9 miles S.W. of Great Grimsby, its post town, and 7 S.E. of Caistor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln, value £47. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The register dates from 1562. Thorganby Hall was the seat of the Willoughby family."

- This place was an ancient parish in Lincolnshire and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
