This parish is just 2 miles north of Louth parish and city and just south of Little Grimsby parish in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The parish only covers about 890 acres.

- In 1911 and 1912, Lieut.-Col. Edward Kyme CORDEAUX of the Lincolnshire Regiment resided in this parish. He was baptised in Great Coates, LIN, in January, 1867. He died in July, 1946.
