Description in 1887:
"SHEARSBY, a chapelry, with a village, in Knaptoft parish, Leicester; 4 miles S S W of Glen r. station, and 6¾ N E of Lutterworth. It has a post-office under Rugby, an inn, and a mineral spring. Real property, £2,411. Pop., 306. Houses, 73. The living is annexed to Knaptoft. The church is good, and serves for the entire parish."

- The parish was in the Lutterworth sub-district of the Lutterworth Registration District.
- The 1851 Census for Leicestershire has been indexed by the Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society. The whole index is available on microfiche. The society has also published it in print.

Shearsby is a parish, a village and a township 9 miles due south of Leicester city and about 8 miles west of Market Harborough. The parish covers just 1,128 acres.
If you are planning a visit:
- By automobile, take the A50 south out of Leicester city past Arnesby. The village is just off the road about a miles beyond Arnesby.
- The Bath Inn in Shearsby held a mineral spring called "The Spa", which was reputed to have medicinal benefits.

- Ask for a calculation of the distance from Shearsby to another place.
- There is a holy well on the road south and west of the village. It was converted to a Spa early in the 1800s.
- The land around the village has been mostly pasture for centuries.
- In the 1800s many of the workers in the parish were graziers or farmers.
- "The Bitterman" has a photograph of the Shearsby Chandlers Arms on Geo-graph, taken in June, 2012.
- The web page author has been unable to find any discription of a manor house or hall at Shearsby.

Shearsby has a handwritten paper Roll of Honour mounted in a frame in St. Mary Magdalene Church that lists all who served in World War I.
