Description in 1871:
"NEWBOLD-VERDON, a village and a parish in Market-Bosworth district, Leicester. The village stands 3 miles E of Market-Bosworth, and 3 W of Desford r.station; and has a post-office under Leicester. The parish contains also the hamlet of Brascote. Acres, 2,400. Real property, £4,416. Pop., 708. Houses, 174. The property is subdivided. The manor belonged anciently to the Verduns, and belongs now to Sir W.Hartopp, Bart. Newbold Hall is an old mansion, retaining some traces of its former grandeur; and was the residence of Lord Crewe, Bishop of Durham, and of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. Coal was recently discovered. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough. Value, £600. Patron, Trinity College, Oxford. The church is a neat building, with a tower; and was repaired and improved in 1844, at a cost of £700. There are a Baptist chapel, an endowed school, with £20 a year, and charities £20."

Newbold Verdon is a village and a parish which lie about 115 miles north of London, 10 miles west of Leicester city and 3 miles east of Market Bosworth. The parish covers about 2,400 acres (but was once much smaller) and includes part of the hamlet of Brascote. Brascote is a deserted village.

- Peter Edwin MARRIOTT, priv., 2/5th Btn. Leics. Regt., age 24, died 22 Dec 1941. Son of Edwin and Edith MARRIOTT.
- The parish is in the ancient Sparkenhoe Hundred in the southern division of the county.
- In August, 1882, the parish was reduced in size to enlarge Barlestone Civil Parish.
- In March, 1886, the parish was enlarged by gaining part of Bagworth Civil Parish.
- In April, 1935, the parish was reduced to enlarge Barlestone Civil Parish, again.
- In April, 1935, the parish was enlarged when Kirkby Mallory Civil Parish was abolished.

- Six cottages were set aside for the poor, funded by the revenue from renting out the Poor's Land of 11 acres.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, this parish became part of the Market Bosworth Poorlaw Union.
