- Knight Thorpe was in the Loughborough subdistrict of the Loughborough registration district.

- The Anglican parish church was in the rural deanery of Goscote (second portion).

- This place was long a township in Loughborough parish in Leicestershire, but was incorporated as a separate Civil Parish in December, 1866.
- The parish was in the ancient West Goscote Hundred in the northern division of the county.
- In March, 1891, the Civil Parish was reduced in size to enlarge both Garendon Civil Parish and Loughborough Civil Parish.
- In October, 1902, the Civil Parish was abolished and the land ceeded back to Loughborough Civil Parish.
- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Loughborough petty session hearings each Wednesday.
