From John Marius WILSON's "Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales, 1870-72":
"IBSTOCK, a village, a township, a parish, and a subdistrict in Derbyshire. The village stands near the source of the river Anker, 2 miles S W of Bardon r. station, and 4¼ N of Market-Bosworth; is well built; contains some good shops; and has a post office‡ under Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The township includes the village, is in Market-Bosworth district, and comprises 2, 257 acres. Real property, £7, 655; of which £750 are in mines, and £396 in railways. The parish contains also Hugglescote and Donington township, in Ashby-de-la-Zouch district; and comprises 4,846 acres."

The Ibstock Library on Melbourne Road at Ibstock Junior School is a branch of the Leicester County Council Library System. It is open 3 days each week (verify by phone if you are visiting).
- The Ibstock Cemetery, set aside in 1883, is 1.25 acres just off Pretoria Road on the east side of the town, and under the care of the Parish Council.
- The Parish Council holds cemetery burial records which can be viewed with an appointment.

Ibstock is a large village and a parish in north-west Leicestershire, England, with a population of around 5,000. Nearby places are Heather, Ellistown, Ravenstone and Donington le Heath. The parish lies 6 miles south-east of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, 5 miles north of Market Bosworth and 120 miles north of London. The parish covers 4.846 acres.

- Ask for a calculation of the distance from Ibstock to another place.
- The parish along with a grange belonging to the abbot of Garendon, has a long early association with the Burtons of Burton on Dunsmore in Warwickshire.
- The parish had a coal seam only 70 yards below the surface.
- The gas works was established here in 1877.

- The stained glass window in St. Denys' north aisle is to the memory of the men of the parish who fell in the Great War, 1914-18.
- Horace GREASLEY, born 25 Dec. 1818, was a local lad and a British prisoner of war who later gained fame for escaping from his POW camp over 200 times, and returning back into captivity each time.

- This place was an ancient parish in Leicestershire and became a Civil Parish parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the ancient Sparkenhoe Hundred in the southern division of the county.
- On 1 April, 1936, the parish boundaries had three adjustments; 17 acres were transferred to Coalville CIvil Parish, 11 acres were received from Heather Civil Parish and 28 acres from Hugglescote and Donnington Civil Parish.

- In 1792 a free school for 50 poor children of the parish was set up.
- A Public Elementary School (mixed) was built in 1818 and enlarged in 1848 and again in 1870 and 1892.
