Description in 1871:
"FOSTON, a parish in Blaby district, Leicestershire; on a branch of the Soar, 2 miles ESE of Countesthorpe r. station, and 6½ SSE of Leicester. Post town, Countesthorpe, under Leicester. Acres, 840. Real property, £2,199. Pop., 27. Houses, 6. The property is all in one estate. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough. Value, £240. Patron, Sir M. Lamb, Bart. The church is Norman and tolerable."

- The parish was in the Wigston sub-district of the Blaby Registration District.

Foston is a small village and was a civil parish about 6.5 miles south of Leicester city. The parish covered 1,333 acres.
The village is too small to appear on most small-scale (large area) maps. If you are planning a visit:
- By automobile, take the A50 arterial road south out of Leicester about 6 miles. A road to the right leads to Countesthorpe. Once on that road you are in the old parish of Foston.
