It was founded in 1922. Opened 17 December 1922, Church 14 December 1924, New Church 25 February 1969.
From St. James's, Pendleton, and from St. Mary's, Swinton, there came this new foundation in 1922. Fr. Thomas Singleton founded the new parish. A great benefactor of the parish was Miss Agnes Murray.A church was opened in 1924. Fr. Joseph O'Donnell succeeded Fr. Singleton and stayed for a number of years. The present parish priest is Fr. Thomas O'Shaughnessey.
