It was founded before 1895. The current church open on 12th December, 1907 and closed in 2019.
Hollins Grove Congregational church began by using a school chapel in Pitville Street. The congregation purchased land on the corner of Blackburn Road and Hawkshaw Avenue and the foundation stone was laid in May 1881. It was a two storey building and was used as a school on the lower floor and as a chapel on the upper floor. In 1905 it was decided to convert this building wholly to a school and build a new chapel adjoining.
In 1972 many of the Congregational churches joined with the English Presbyterian church to become the United Reformed Church. Hollins Grove chose not to follow this path and remain part of the Congregational Federation.
