It was founded in 1875. It is now closed, but we do not know the date of closure.

The church building is now used by the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate Church of the Virgin St. Mary and St. Mina.

In 1972 the Congregational church joined with the English Presbyterian church to become the United Reformed Church.
