It was founded in 1899. It closed in 1985.
The District of St. Stephen''s was formed by Order in Council, 9 August 1898, (London Gazette, 12 August 1898), from the parish of Christ Church, Harpurhey cum Moston. A mission church opened on 4 June 1899. The foundation stone of the church was laid on 28 July 1900 and it was consecrated on 9 October 1901. The boundaries of the parish with Christ Church were slightly altered by Order in Council, 12 March 1903 (London Gazette, 13 March 1903). In 1975 St. Stephen''s joined with Harpurhey Methodist Church and Queen''s Park Baptist Church to form an Area of Ecumenical Experiment, which in July 1980 became Harpurhey United Church in a new church next to the old one.
