The church does not have a graveyard. Many deceased parishioners are buried in the well maintained Urmston Cemetery.
The parish of St Monica was created in 1950, and services first took place in the garage of the priest's house at Holly House, Irlam Road (where Holly House Drive now stands). In 1953 services moved to a church hall, constructed in the grounds of Holly House, and in 1965 to the present church, at the junction of Irlam Road and Woodsend Raod South. The first priest was Father McVey until about 1963, to be replaced by Father Thomas Lennon (brother in law of the noted local artist, Frances Lennon, until his retirement in the early 1980s.
This site provides historical information about churches, other places of worship and cemeteries. It has no connection with the churches etc. themselves. For current information you should contact them directly.
