As a young person from the age of about 10 years until I was 14 years old. I attended EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH Colne Road Burnley. My parents were the caretakers of the church and school for a short time before we moved to Blackpool. I attended church and Sunday School regularly. We lived in the church house at number 2 Hebrew Road in Burnley. Our back yard opened on to the church yard.On Wednesday's I think it was, there were ladies members meetings. A piano was present in the room. It was held on the first floor of the building. Downstairs there was a games room with tables and dart boards. We had jumbles sales and sales of work during the year. The sales of work was usually crafts and home produce made by lady members of the church. The school rooms of the church became an annex of the Burnley Grammar School for Boys. My Sundey School class was situated on the upper floor of the building. I helped in the church by placing hymn books in the pews ready for the services every week. I sometimes helped with the dusting.
I remember very well my days of association with EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH on Colne Road, Burnely. I last saw the church in the year 2005 when I last visited the town. I found it to have altered little in structure but it was different in some ways. As for the house where I lived, it look to be uninhabited.
