"BARNACRE, a township in the parish of Garstang, (joined with Bonds), hundred of Amounderness, in the county palatine of Lancashire, 2 miles from Garstang.
BONDS, a township joined with Barnacre in the parish of Garstang, hundred of Amounderness, in the county palatine of Lancaster, not far from Garstang. Here are the remains of Greenhaigh Castle, an ancient seat of the Stanleys, founded in the reign of Henry VII. It was dismantled by order of the parliament during the civil war of the 17th century, and only one tower is now standing."
