"TILMANSTONE, a parish in the hundred of Eastry, lathe of St. Augustine, county Kent, 5 miles S.W. of Sandwich, its post town, and 7 N. of Dover. Prior to the Domes day survey this manor belonged to the see of Canterbury. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury, value £196, in the patronage of the archbishop. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, contains several monuments. The Wesleyans have a chapel. The principal residence is Danes Court."
