"GRENDON (BISHOPS), a parish in the hundred of BROXASH, county of HEREFORD, 4 miles (W. N. W.) from Bromyard, containing 212 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Hereford, endowed with £800 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Bromyard. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, was rebuilt in 1788, at the expense of six individuals of the parish, the old edifice having fallen down in 1786. There are vestiges of an ancient intrenchment in the vicinity, said to be Danish." [From Samuel Lewis A Topographical Dictionary of England (1831) ©Mel Lockie]
