[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer (1868)]
"SISTON, a parish in the hundred of Pucklechurch, county Gloucester, 6 miles N.E. of Bristol, its post town, and 1½ mile E. of Mangotsfield railway station. The village, which is considerable, is situated near the Gloucester railway. There are some brick kilns, a pin factory, and a malting establishment. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £323. The church, dedicated to St. Peter or St. Anne, is an ancient stone structure with a square tower containing six bells. There is also a district church at Warmley, the living of which is a perpetual curacy, value £60. The parochial charities produce about £6 per annum. There is a National school for both sexes. Siston Court is the principal residence. F. R. N. Dickenson, Esq., is lord of the manor and principal landowner."
