"RIVENHALL, a parish in the hundred of WITHAM, county of ESSEX, 2¾ miles (N. by E.) from Witham, containing 591 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £21. 5. 5. C. W. Western, Esq. was patron in 1824. The church is dedicated to St. Mary and All Saints. Thomas Tusser, author of a popular work, entitled "Five Hundred Points of good Husbandry", was born here about the beginning of the sixteenth century."
