"WEALD (NORTH), a parish partly in the hundred of HARLOW, but chiefly in that of ONGAR, county of ESSEX, 3¼ miles (N. E. by E.) from Epping, containing, with the hamlets of Hastingwood and Thornwood, 827 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £13. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Bishop of London.
