Bradwell-Juxta-Coggeshall is situated 2.5 miles west from that town (Coggeshall) and 3 east from Braintree station. It is on the river Blackwater and on the road from Braintree to Colchester. It derives its name from a broad well, or spring, rising to the north of Bradwell hall. The parish consists of about 1161 acres. Population in 1861 was 272. Abridged from the Post Office Directory, Essex 1862.
