“STOURPAINE, a parish in the hundred of Pimperne, North Blanford division of county Dorset, 3 miles N.W. of Blanford-Forum, its post town. The village is on the Stour. The parish includes the hamlets of Lacerton, formerly a distinct parish, and the tything of Ashe. On an eminence called Hod Hill are the remains of a double-ditched camp, which extends over several acres, and in which many Roman coins have been found. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Sarum, value £130, in the patronage of the dean and chapter. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The register dates from 1631. There is a National school."
