“HAYDON, a parish in the hundred of Sherborne, county Dorset, 2 miles E. of Sherborne, its post town, and 2½ S. of Milborne Port. The village is very small, and wholly agricultural. The land is chiefly meadow and pasture, with 20 acres of orchard. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £120. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Sarum, value £150. The church is dedicated to St. Catherine. The parochial charities produce about £1 per annum."
