“CHURCH KNOWLE, a parish in the South Blandford division of the hundred of Hasilor, in the county of Dorset, 3½ miles S. of Wareham, its post town and railway station, and 1½ W. of Corfe Castle. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Salisbury, value £285, in the patronage of Lieut. Colonel Mansel. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, was formerly in the early English style of architecture, but has been greatly altered from time to time. There is a National school for both sexes. Colonel Mansel is lord of the manor."
