SPREYTON, a parish in the hundred of WONFORD, county of DEVON, 8 miles (E. by N.) from Oakhampton, containing 398 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10. 5. 8., and in the patronage of the Rev. Richard Holland. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. A lead mine has been opened here, but it has hitherto proved unsuccessful.
