This small book on the geology of Sidmouth and southeastern Devon relies mainly on its author’s interpretation of his geologist predecessors, particularly those of Sir Henry de la Beche. It brims with careful and accurate observations and copiously illustrated with the author’s own engravings on copper and wood. His work forms a valuable resource still thought useful to modern professional geologists.
