ROSE-ASH, a parish in the hundred of WITHERIDGE, county of DEVON, 5¼ miles (E. S. E.) from South Molton, containing 436 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £18. 19. 7., and in the patronage of the Representatives of the families of Esse and Giffard. A charity school is partly supported with two small endowments, by Ann Vicary in 1753, and John Bray in 1764.
