Description of Document:
This document consists of two sheets of paper, handwritten in tabulated form.
Entitled: “A List of the Charities in the Parish of Northam, County of Devon”
It is reproduced below as accurately as possible.
There is no date or signature, but from the style of writing and paper, the 1830s is likely.
This would fit with the production of two carved slate Charity Plaques dated 1839 currently in Northam Church. This schedule of surviving charities was probably produced to replace an old schedule of benefactors’ details, painted on the wall of the church, in order that the new 1839 stone Charity Plaques could be produced.
This date is also supported by the names given at the base of this document:
Mr Mill the Vicar and Mr Partridge one of the Churchwardens.
Reverend Thomas Harrison Valletort Mill, served from 1810 to his death in 1844.
Mr Partridge is probably William Partridge of Bone Hill, who died in 1842, aged 84.

The Trustees of all the Charities except David Bests are dead and the person best qualified to give any information that may be required is Mr Mill the Vicar and Mr Partridge one of the Churchwardens who has lived in the parish and performed his duty in that situation for a great many years.
