Sir Richard Grenville or Greynvile, (1541? - 1591), is described in the Dictionary of National Biography as 'interesting himself, in company with Sir Humphrey Gilbert, in 'an enterprise for the discovery of sundry rich and unknown lands', which never came to fruition. Further light has been shed on this plan and its abandonment, since the writing of that article, Richard Grenville did indeed produce such a scheme in 1574, which the Queen refused to licence, and the existence of that scheme became known when John Oxenham and two other Englishmen were captured in Panama in 1577. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
