Twenty-Eighth Report of the Committee on Devonshire Verbal Provincialisms

Trans. Devon Assoc., vol.  LXVII, (1915), pp. 93-130.

by

Charles H. Laycock

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Committee’s Report was read at its July 21st, 1915, Exeter meeting. The Committee’s purpose was to note and record the current and past use of any Verbal Provincialisms in Devonshire, in either written or spoken language, that were not included in the lists published in the Association’s Transactions. The present lengthy Report provides a useful restatement of the Committees Rules for Inclusion in its records as well as a comprehensive index to all the words and phrases that had appeared in the Committee’s 27 previous reports.
This Report, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries.
