Johannes Sixtinus (John Sextun), d. 1519, was a contemporary and an associate of Erasmus. He was a native of Bolsward in Friesland and studied at Oxford before pursuing a clerical career in England. Sixtinus studied Law at Bologna and perhaps at Ferrara. He obtained a doctorate in Civil Law at Sienna in 1510. Shortly before this he was appointed Archpriest of Haccombe. A great deal of his later life was spent in Rome. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
