The report, read at the Association's 1890 Barnstaple meeting focuses on an eclectic mixture of documents including manuscripts and books on matters relating to Devon from three sources: (1) the collection of the late Lt Col William Harding deposited in the North Devon Athenaeum at Barnstaple, (2) a portion of the MS collection of the late David Thomas Powell, deposited in the British Museum, and (3)notes on some missing Devonshire MSS by Mr R W Cotton and Mr J Brooking Rowe, FSA . The purpose of the Committee was to investigate and report on manuscripts, records and ancient documents existing in or related to Devonshire, with the nature of their contents, their localities and whether or not they are in private or public hands. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Michigan University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
