"WALTON (INFERIOR), a township in the parish of RUNCORN, hundred of BUCKLOW, county palatine of CHESTER, 2 miles (S.) from Warrington, containing 353 inhabitants. The Mersey and Irwell canal passes in the vicinity. A school is supported by subscriptions amounting to about £7 per annum."   • Walton Inferior (or Lower Walton) was a township in Runcorn ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 6086), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • In 1936 the civil parish was abolished to become part of Walton.
  • The population was 271 in 1801, 375 in 1851, and 719 in 1901.
