It was founded in 1573.
Also known as "Stoke: St. Lawrence".
Church History
An ancient parish church, originally serving the townships of Great Stanney, Little Stanney and Stoke, and parts of the townships of Backford, Ince and Whitby.
The district was affected by the following boundary changes:
- 1967 March 23 — reduced when the civil parish of Great Stanney was transferred to Ellesmere Port: Christ Church.
On 27 October 1971 the parish was abolished and its area transferred to Ellesmere Port: Christ Church.
