"SPURSTOW, a township in that part of the parish of BUNBURY which is in the first division of the hundred of EDDISBURY, county palatine of CHESTER, 4¼ miles (S.by E.) from Tarporley, containing 553 inhabitants. A mineral spring here, called Spurstow Spa, was formerly much frequented, and baths were erected by Sir Thomas Mostyn, for the accommodation of visitors but the waters are not at present in much repute."
