- Raby was a township in Neston ancient parish, Wirral hundred (SJ 3179), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Merseyside.
- It includes the hamlet of Plymyard.
- The population was 131 in 1801, 195 in 1851, 350 in 1901, and 308 in 1951.
