Church History

Built in 1879 as the district church for the township of Great Sutton (previously served by Eastham: St. Mary). The boundaries of "The District Chapelry of Saint John the Evangelist, Great Sutton" were described in the London Gazette on 5 March 1880:

"All those parts of the said parish of Eastham which are comprised within and are co-extensive with the limits of the said township of Great Sutton".
