Meols Drive/Graham Road

Church History

Built in 1891 as a chapel to West Kirby: St. Bridget. In 1920 it became a district church for parts of the civil parishes of Grange and Hoylake cum West Kirby (previousy served by West Kirby: St. Bridget). The boundaries of "The District Chapelry of Saint Andrew, West Kirby" were described in the London Gazette on 13 August 1920:

"All that part of the Parish of West Kirby, in the County of Chester and in the Diocese of Chester, which is bounded upon the west by the high water mark of ordinary tides upon the sea shore, upon the north-west by the New Parish of the Holy Trinity, Hoose, otherwise Hoylake, upon the north-east by the New Parish of Christ Church, Moreton, upon part, of the southeast by the New Parish of Frankby, all in the said County and Diocese, and upon the remaining sides, that is to say, upon the remaining part of-the south-east and upon the south, by an imaginary line commencing at the point between Long Rake Farm and Newton Bridge in the middle of the road leading from Woodside Ferry to West Kirby where the boundary which divides the said New P'arish of Frankby from the said Parish of West Kirby diverges southward from following the middle of the said road, and extending thence first westward and then south-westward along the middle of such road for a distance of 74 chains or thereabouts to its junction with Grange Road, and extending thence first north-westward and then in various directions along the middle of Grange Road for a distance of 46 chains or thereabouts to its junction with Meols Drive and Dee Lane, and extending thence south-westward along the middle of Dee Lane for a distance of 15 chains or thereabouts to its junction with South Parade, and continuing thence in precisely the same direction and in a straight line for a distance of 2½ chains or thereabouts to the high water mark of ordinary tides upon the sea shore."

The district was affected by the following boundary changes:

• 1937 October 26 — reduced when an area was transferred to Great Meols: St. John the Baptist.
