- Ness was a township in Neston ancient parish, Wirral hundred (SJ 3076), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- In 1974 it became an unparished area, and in 2009 it was abolished to become part of the civil parish of Neston.
- It included the hamlets of Denhall and Nessholt.
- The population was 347 in 1801, 454 in 1851, 355 in 1901, and 596 in 1951.
