"PEOVER (LITTLE), a township in that part of the parish of GREAT-BUDWORTH which is in the hundred of BUCKLOW, county palatine of CHESTER, 3 miles (S. by W.) from Nether Knutsford, containing 88 inhabitants. - Peover Inferior (or Lower Peover) (pronounced Pee-ver) was a township and chapelry in Great Budworth ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 7474), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- It includes the hamlets of Free Green (part), Lower Peover (part) and Smithy Green.
- The population was 131 in 1801, 121 in 1851, 144 in 1901, 111 in 1951, and 102 in 2001.
