"HOOLE, a township in that part of the parish of PIEMONSTALL which is in the lower division of the hundred of BROXTON, county palatine of CHESTER, 2½ miles (N. - Hoole was a township in the ancient parishes of Plemstall and Chester: St. John the Baptist, Broxton hundred (SJ 4267), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- The civil parish was abolished in 1954 to become parts of Chester, Guilden Sutton and Hoole Village.
- The population was 177 in 1801, 427 in 1851, 5341 in 1901, and 9056 in 1951.

- 1954 April 1 — Abolished and divided between Chester (498 acres, pop. 8705 in 1951), Guilden Sutton (18 acres, pop. 209 in 1951) and Hoole Village (156 acres, pop. 144 in 1951)
