- Hassall was a township in Sandbach ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 7858), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- It includes the hamlets of Day Green (part), Lodley and Malkin's Bank (part).
- The population was 181 in 1801, 219 in 1851, 295 in 1901, 288 in 1951, and 281 in 2001.
