"CHOLMONDSTONE, a township in the parish of ACTON, hundred of NANTWICH, county palatine of CHESTER, GREAT BUDWORTH 4½ miles (N. by W.) from Nantwich, containing 208 inhabitants. - Cholmondeston (pronounced Chumston) was a township in Acton ancient parish, Nantwich hundred (SJ 6358), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- The population was 168 in 1801, 186 in 1851, 162 in 1901, 172 in 1951, and 153 in 2001.
