"BURWARDSLEY, a chapelry in that part of the parish of BUNBURY which is in the higher division of the hundred of BROXTON, county palatine of CHESTER, 5¾ miles (S. S. W.) from Tarporley, containing 272 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, endowed with £1000 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Trustees. - Burwardsley (pronounced Burr'zley) was a township in Bunbury ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5156), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- It includes the hamlets of Folwers Bench, Pennsylvania and Willow Hill.
