"ANDERTON, a township in that part of the parish of GREAT BUDWORTH which is in the hundred of BUCKLOW, county palatine of CHESTER, 1¾ mile (N. W. by N.) from Northwich, containing 210 inhabitants. On the northern bank of the Weaver, in its course through this township, is an almost uninterrupted line of salt-works: the Grand Trunk canal passes through it." - Anderton was a township in Great Budworth ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 6475), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- The civil parish was abolished in 1988 to become part of Anderton with Marbury
- It included the hamlets of Daisy Bank, Gunners Clough (part), and Soot Hill.
- The population was 191 in 1801, 251 in 1851, 360 in 1901, and 424 in 1951.
