In the early 1920s many things were changing in Ireland and it was around that time that the decision was taken to close the Methodist Church in Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan. However, in conjunction with this closure, it was planned to build a hall at Tullyboy, about five miles away. For many years previously there had been a Methodist meeting in the barn of a family called Ferguson and this meeting would be the nucleus of the new work at Tullyboy. A site was given by Mr Robert Ferguson, opposite the barn, and the new hall at Tullyboy was opened on Sunday 23 August 1925.
