Compliments of: Michael D Stenhouse

I have been able to only help a few listers with trawlermen ancestors.
For those who did not recieve any help from me and would like to order
for themselves -

Here is some information on how I ordered and recieved them.

The first sheet includes the name of the Trawler, the owner and the
skipper.

The lists include the name of all the crew members including their ticket
nos., if they had one. Their rank/position on board, where they were
born, how much pay they got, who received their pay, (in some cases
address of recipient is included), when they mustered and when they were
discharged. They also include names of apprentices and of course details
of any accidents or incidents at sea. Date of discharge is also included.

The lists came from the North East Lincolnshire Archives, Town Hall, Town
Hall Square, Grimsby, DN31 1HX. Telephone no. (01472) 323585. A man called
John F. Wilson is the person I was in contact with.

And here are some questions and answers

Q- Did he copy the lists for you?

A - Well the lists were copied. Whether he did them, or got somebody else
to do it I cannot say.

Q - Is it one document (i.e. crew lists 1885-1902) or part of a bigger set
of documents?

A - It is a set of several documents. That is, copies of all the agreements
with my Gtgrandfather as a crewman.

Q - What exactly would one ask for?

A - I asked for copies of Trawler crew lists where the name of my
Gtgrandfather was included.

Q - And how much did it cost?

A - I have about 30 crewlists (A3 size) and each agreement is on average
about 4 pages. To keep the price down I asked only for extracts of lists
with my Gtgrandfathers name. The lists were rather large in some cases. I
paid £31 inclusive postage to Norway.
