The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llangranog contained the following places:

"LLANGRANOG, a parish in the hundred of Moyddyn, county Cardigan, 10 miles N. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn, and 9 N.E. of Cardigan, its post town. It is situated on the coast of Cardigan Bay, and includes the village of Rhydmanleg. Many of the people are engaged in the fishery. This place is -resorted to in summer for sea bathing. The tithes were commuted in 1840. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of St. David's, value £270, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to St. Caranog, stands on the cliff. Here is a barrow, and a rock somewhat resembling a chair, called Yr-Eisteddfa. Pigeonsford and Cwm Owen are the principal residences. A fair is held on the 27th May."
